Samuel Hausman

About
Samuel Hausman is a professional trombonist and music educator specializing in brass instruments and small ensemble classroom instruction based in Boston, Massachusetts. After beginning his study of trombone at the age of 10, he fell in love with music immediately and dedicated his life’s pursuits to performing, learning, and educating others about music. As a freelance musician based in Boston, he has performed regularly with the Apollo Ensemble of Boston, Arlington Philharmonic, Du Bois Symphony Orchestra, and various musical theater pits.
He attended the University of Connecticut, where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Music studying with George Sanders. Subsequently, he attended The Hartt School of Music for his Master’s of Music in trombone performance studying with Haim Avitsur, and was named an Epsilon Gamma Chapter of Pi Kappa Lambda Scholar for those who achieved musical and academic excellence within their degree program.
Sam has been a featured soloist in the University of Connecticut Wind Ensemble’s performance of Flash Black by Steve Danyew, and with the Hartt Brass Ensemble performing Londonderry Air. He was also a member of the Hartt 20/20 Honors Chamber Ensemble. Recently, he participated in the premiere of a lost work Pilgrims of Destiny by Gena Branscombe at Clark University in Worcester, MA.
