Isaiah Chapman

Composer, modern/baroque violist, and violist da gamba, Isaiah Chapman is a freelancer based in the Greater Boston area. In his second season with Apollo Ensemble, Isaiah, also, plays in Brockton Symphony Orchestra, Du Bois Orchestra, Orchestra Book Club, has subbed with Boston Public Quartet, and continues to play in two D.C.-based historical performance ensembles—Washington Bach Consort and Opera Lafayette. 

His intersectional interests in music, geography, and GLAMs—galleries, libraries, archives, and museums—has undergirded his activism for the corrective action and presentation of African diaspora music collections as well as championing underrepresented composers. Isaiah has studied at the University of North Texas, Eastman School of Music, Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University, and is currently studying in the Library & Information Science, Archives concentration program at Simmons University.
