Bass

Martha F. Davis

About

At age 12, Martha Davis convinced her parents to buy a bigger car so that she could switch from the flute to the double bass.  Since then, she has performed with the Ridgefield Symphony, Bermuda Philharmonic, Bronx Symphony, Regina Opera, Amato Opera, DuBois Orchestra, Apollo Ensemble, Boston Chamber Symphony, Horizon Ensemble, Interlochen’s World Youth Symphony, and many others.

Davis benefited from teachers including Oscar Zimmerman, S. Daniel Swaim, and Darren Sacks.  Before she acquired it, her double bass was in the Tommy Dorsey band.

Davis holds degrees from Harvard, Oxford (Trinity College), and the University of Chicago, and is on the faculty of Northeastern University.
