Founded in 2018 by Elias Miller and Michael Tabak and conducted by Elias Miller, the Apollo Ensemble of Boston is a 70-member orchestra made up of some of the area’s best musicians. Now in its sixth season, the ensemble has explored a diverse body of repertoire in a series of well-attended and well-received concerts throughout Greater Boston. Although it began as a smaller ensemble primarily performing works for chamber orchestra, string orchestra, and wind ensemble, Apollo has since grown into a full orchestra that regularly performs the larger scale symphonic works of the standard repertoire.
The Apollo Ensemble brings together professional musicians, conservatory students, and professional-level avocational musicians, providing talented musicians excellent performance opportunities and bringing outstanding music to Boston audiences in accessible, free community concerts.
The 2024-25 season will see the ensemble perform two concerts in St. John’s Church in Jamaica Plain and two in First Church Cambridge and feature 3 terrific Boston-based soloists, pieces by several young composers including two world premieres, and some of the greatest works of the standard repertoire. The orchestra will also perform its first ever “Neighborhood Notes” community concert in the First Baptist Church of Medford and its first ever education concerts in local community music schools.
We are proud to announce that Apollo Ensemble Music Director, Elias Miller, was recently appointed to the position of Assistant Conductor of the Columbus Symphony and Music Director of the Columbus Symphony Youth Orchestra! You can read more about his new role HERE.
